Restaurant Injuries

Joseph Devine asked:

When we go out to eat at a restaurant, we go out for different reasons. Sometimes it’s because no one wants to cook and it’s convenient. Sometimes we are going for social purposes. Sometimes we just go because we enjoy the food that the restaurant serves. For whatever reason you go to a restaurant, you don’t go with the expectation that you are at risk of injury. However, there are risks that we don’t consider when we go out to eat.

There is always a risk of slip and fall injuries at a restaurant. There are beverages and foods being served constantly. At any point that a drink gets spilled onto the floor or a waiter drops a trey of food, there is a potential injury waiting to happen. It is the restaurant’s responsibility to clean up these messes and keep their floors dry to prevent slips and resulting injuries, but the restaurant cannot be aware of all spills at all times. This makes it extremely important for those eating at a restaurant to make their server aware of any spills that have reached the floor of walking areas. This simple action can prevent unnecessary injury.

Many of the dishes that are used at restaurants are made of glass or porcelain type materials. These materials will shatter if they hit the floor and create a mess that is always difficult to clean up entirely. Tiny pieces of glass or porcelain can be hard to find and end up remaining on the floor. This creates the obvious risk of someone stepping on these small, sharp pieces and cutting their foot. If you are wearing shoes, you are not likely to be at a high risk of injury, but those wearing shoes that expose parts of the feet should be careful.

Injuries at restaurants don’t occur often. Usually our experience at a restaurant is pain free. However, risks do exist that can cause serious injury. Restaurants have a responsibility to keep their customers safe from these injury risks. This is usually referred to as premises liability. If you have been a victim of an injury at a restaurant, you might be able to seek compensation for your injuries. You should get information on your legal rights and fight for the money that you deserve. Visit the website of this premises liability lawyer to get the information you need.

Common Causes of Work Place Injuries

Jonny Vee asked:

Injuries happen everywhere in the world and in just about every situation that you can think off. One of the most common places of injury, and perhaps even serious injury is in fact the workplace. You may be shocked to hear this, but unfortunately it is true. Despite this alarming notion, there are indeed many things which can be done and implemented to help avoid work place related injuries.

Although every work place is different and yes, there will be some places of work which will be considered to be far more hazardous than others, there are always aspects which can pretty much apply throughout – which is why it is so shocking to find that the implementation of these is so poor or even lacking!

Training does tend to be an aspect of many injuries in the workplace – and this is ultimately due to either a lack of, or poor implementation. To generalize things somewhat, there will be many places of work which will have dangerous or hazardous elements, yet the training around this will be lacking, or there will be large portions of it which will be missing. Typical examples of this would be not training people who to carry things in a safe way for themselves and even their co-workers.

Another all too common cause of work related injury does tend to be due to negligence. This is likely to include the poor maintenance of equipment and facilities. Without anybody actively working as a health and safety advisor or representative, hazards like exposed wires or waste tend to begin to get overlooked – which can lead to severe problems.

So if you run a business, don’t overlook the importance of your employees and ultimately your own safety, as there are a lot of things which can, and unfortunately will go wrong should you not keep on top of it. If you are unsure, you can always seek advice from professional health and safety advisors

Horrible lower leg pain immediately after exercising, but not while active. Any ideas what this is?

Hector asked:

I play lacrosse, and when i warm up, my lower leg area begins to hurt minimally, but after about a minute, the pain is gone until i stop running. Immediately after stopping (within 10 seconds) my legs hurt horribly. It takes another minute to get back to no pain, but during this minute, the pain in my lower is terrible. Any ideas?
